After half an hour drive from Xylokastro and fifteen minutes walk from the chapel of Agios Loukas, above the village Elliniko in Corinth, we arrive at the natural paradise: the canyon of Agios Loukas or Kallithea. At this point, in an opening not more than a hundred meters of the canyon, seven ponds with small waterfalls await us for a beautiful picnic or a cold bath, for those who wish, in a magical environment.
Just an hour and a half from MELIA’S VILLA is Mountainous Corinth. There you can do various activities such as thematic “mushroom excursions” for entertainment, information and collection of delicious wild mushrooms and wild truffles. Hiking and mountain climbing on marked forest and alpine trails in Durduvana, Ziria and Helmos. Swimming, boating and canoeing, fishing and romantic picnics on the lake Doxa.
For the lovers of the art of the Ancient Theater, 1 hour from MELIA’S VILLA is the well-known Ancient Epidaurus and the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus where you can enjoy the months of July and August performances in the context of the Greek Festival.
Remarkable destination is the area of Kalavrita which is only 1 hour and 15 minutes far from MELIA’S VILLA. There you can visit the plane tree forest of the Aroanios river springs in Planetero where you can taste the famous river trout of the area. It is worth walking a unique one-hour route within the gorge of Vouraikos from the picturesque Zachlorou to Diakopto along the rails of the rack railway (or cog railway, odontotos in Greek).
In 1 hour and 15 minutes you can arrive at the enchanting mountain villages of Vytina, Stemnitsa, Dimitsana with the river Lucio for rafting.
